Jim Kweskin is probably best known as a singer and bandleader. He also created one of the bedrock guitar styles of the folk revival, adapting the ragtime-blues fingerpicking of artists like Blind Boy Fuller to the more complex chords of pop and jazz. He has maintained a remarkably consistent musical vision since his jug band days, continuing to explore traditional folk and blues with the sophisticated sensibility of a jazz musician and jazz with the communal simplicity of a folk artist. He has recorded solo ventures, as a member of the U and I band, and with U and I bandmate Samoa Wilson, and continues to perform widely in various formats. In recent years he and Geoff Muldaur have often appeared as a duo, revisiting and expanding on their Jug Band repertoire.

Announcing the Jim Kweskin Jug Band 2015 Reunion Tour

The founding members of the Jim Kweskin Jug Band are looking forward to collaborating this summer with three immensely talented rising stars of the string world: Jason Anick on violin, Bennett Sullivan on banjo, and Martin Keith on bass. Each one of these brilliant young musicians brings fresh, exciting energy to classic jug band favorites.

For our New York friends, we are excited to announce a special surprise mystery guest artist will be joining us at City Winery NYC, The Egg/Swyer Theatre (Albany), and Towne Crier (Beacon). While we can't reveal his name, suffice it to say he has been an avid fan and fantastic player of jug band music ever since his doctor prescribed it, and it seemed to make him feel just fine.
